You are totally misunderstanding the nature of newsgroups. In a
normal public place people are not there explicitly to listen to
you.
People in newsgroups are not here explicitly to listen to you if you
are off-topic almost all the time. (Like I am.) I am aware of that
bit of fine print. Back in the day when t.r.c-m was active, it was
different. I addressed the group because I was entirely on-topic and
knew the group members were interested in the topic.
I do not make that assumption here.
